Complaint

The driver got to the barrier on Sunday 12 April 2026 around 7pm and was stopped by the Police, and requested to pay GH 200.00 after submitting his documents without any explanation. The driver in a first attempt pleaded to pay GHS 100.00 but the officers insisted on the GHS 200.00. So, the driver was forced to sleep at the barrier from Sunday around 7pm till Monday 13th April 2026 around 7am when he reported the issue to GSA.

The driver was released without paying any money.  

Progress update note

The driver reported the case to GSA. GSA speaking to one of the officers was told that the goods were not transit just because they were not loaded from the port. While seeking more clarification from the officer on his statement, the latter gave the phone back to the driver and walked away.

Further discussion with another officer revealed that the driver did not have any "movement document". GSA sought clarity on such document which the Police could not give. After an extensive discussion between GSA and the Police, GSA requested that the driver snap all his documents and send to them vis whatsapp.

The police ended up requesting the driver to give them the initial GHS 100 to which when the driver reported to GSA, GSA objected.

Few minutes after this, the driver called to confirm his release.
