NTB Type: Other type: Police delay and extortion
Complaint: The truck broke down and the police helped with the traffic management. The driver was asked to pay GH 2000 before taking his license and carte grise internationale from the police.

The Police officer demanding the money left his phone number with driver to call him whenever he was ready to pay the amount.
Status note: Few minutes later, the driver called back to confirm his release.
Progress update note: The driver reported the case to GSA.
GSA contacted their focal point at the Police Head Quarters and explained the situation to him.

The focal point share the Bono East Regional Police Commander's phone number with GSA to facilitate the resolution.

GSA explained the case to the Police Regional Commander who, in his turn put the concerned Officer on the line. After a lengthy discussion between the 3 parties, the Regional Commander instructed that driver be released immediately.
