One of the drivers called to report the issue to GSA. GSA interacting with the police enquired to know what demanded for the delay.
The officer claimed that the goods were not in transit because of the absence of the tracking device. He further mentioned that the drivers know what to do whenever they get to their end.
GSA took the opportunity to explain to the police that not all goods going to the Sahel States come from the port. It was told the police that some of the goods can be from factories or the market according to bilateral agreements between these country and Ghana. It also told the police that once there was a Customs document covering the goods, they can legally travel through the country's corridors.
On the issue frustrating drivers to pay money, GSA informed the police of a meeting help with the Inspector General of Police in July where a called was put trough by the IGP to all Regional Commanders demanding an immediate halt of such practice.
GSA, upon the above intervention requested that the drivers be allowed to continue their journey.
