The driver whose truck broke down reported to the Customs office. Because the following day (Friday) was a holiday he was asked to come for his papers on Monday. On the driver's arrival at the Customs office, he was being asked to GH 500.00 before the change would be effected in the system and his papers released to him. Before going to the officer, the driver had already paid GH 100.00 to a Customs officer at a checkpoint, who in his turn directed the driver to their office.

When called, GSA staff reported the matter to their focal person at the Customs Head Office, Mr. Ofori Oscar. The latter promised to call their office in Kumasi for the release of the driver.
On the following day, (Tuesday), GSA staff called the driver to find out if he was released. To his surprise the driver was not released.
GSA staff then recalled Mr. Ofori to remind him of the issue. Mr. Ofori once again said he would call their office in Kumasi and get back to GSA staff.
Finally the Customs at Kumasi insisted and collected GH 500.00 from the driver before releasing him.
